CAMFT Staff and Board participated in 4 meetings
with Irregulars, California
Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals, the Department of Managed
Healthcare Consumer, Provider, Plan, and Agency, and Kim Madsen, Executive Officer
of BBS. It is critical for CAMFT to have a place at the table with other mental
health professionals and regulatory bodies. These meetings will always be a high
CAMFT Legal Staff responded to over 2066 calls from members with questions
on legal, ethical and licensure issues. Access to this expert, legal guidance
is one of the most beneficial and popular member benefits.
Over 14,380 people visited the CounselingCalifornia.com website with
11,845 of those being unique visitors. There were hits to 3,237 different therapist
profiles and 26,151 total page views. The CounselingCalifornia.com marketing
tool is available to all members for the purpose

CAMFT Staff submitted 2 advocacy letters to:
- Governor Jerry Brown thanking him for allocating budgeting and staffing
positions for the BBS in his proposed 2016/2017 State Budget
- State Senator Ed Hernandez regarding telehealth reimbursement issues
- William Ellerbee, Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction at
the California Department of Education, to open a discussion about the
unmet mental health
needs in the K-12 California school system
CAMFT consistently interacts with key legislators to reinforce
how proposed legislation, regulation, or other actions
may be beneficial or harmful
to LMFTs and MFT Interns and Trainees. Advocacy is a cornerstone
commitment to members.
CAMFT Board and Staff met with 9 legislative offices, U.S Representatives
Susan Brooks, Paul Ryan, Mark DeSaulnier, Grace Napolitano, and John Katko,
State Senator Ed Hernandez, Assemblymembers Jim Wood and Jay Obernolte, and
Marin County Supervisor Judy Arnold. CAMFT consistently interacts with
key legislators to reinforce how proposed legislation, regulation, or other
may be beneficial or harmful to LMFTs and MFT Interns and Trainees. Advocacy
is a cornerstone of CAMFT’s commitment to members.
CAMFT Board and lobbyists attended 10 receptions for State Senators Mike McGuire,
Mike Morrell, Ed Hernandez, and Darrell Steinberg, and Assemblymembers Ed Chau,
Lorena Gonzalez, Kevin Mullin, Chris Holden, Jim Wood, and Melissa Melendez.
The goal of the CAMFT PAC is to ensure that Marriage and Family Therapist-friendly
candidates and incumbents from both political parties get elected to the California
legislature. We support candidates who have demonstrated an understanding and

The CAMFT Chapter Leadership Conference was held on February 19 & 20,
2016 in San Mateo, CA. There were over 100 chapter volunteers in attendance
representing 26 of the 28 active chapters of CAMFT. The Board also participated
in this event. The Chapter Leadership Conference is hosted each year by CAMFT
to provide education and networking opportunities to individuals volunteering
within local CAMFT chapters.
CAMFT Staff presented Law and Ethics seminars at 2 Chapters: Inland Empire
and Santa Cruz. The law and ethics seminar is a valuable training tool that
gets consistently positive response from MFTs and other participants.
CAMFT Staff and Board participated in 3 Chapter meetings: Southwest Riverside,
Redwood Empire, and Los Angeles. Chapter meetings are a prime opportunity
for CAMFT leadership and staff to hear directly from members and exchange ideas

The CAMFT Bylaws, Ethics, Certified Supervisor Program, Public Outreach,
Strategic Planning, Audit, Political Action, and Annual Conference & Continuing Education
Planning Committees, the Leadership Advisory Council, and the Educational Foundation
