Candidate for Clinical Director
Nancy Finley, LMFT
My name is Nanci Finley and I am excited to be running for Director at Large
for the CAMFT Board. My academic clinical training is in Dance Therapy and
Clinical Psychology, earning my MA in 1990 from Antioch University. I have
been licensed as a LMFT since 2000, and have been a member of both CAMFT and
East Bay CAMFT since 2001. I have worked for the past ten years as a Mental
Health Clinician for Solano County, working for much of that time in Children's
Mental Health serving children, adolescents, and their families. I absolutely
love what I do and incorporate both verbal therapy and Dance/ Movement Therapy
into my work. In addition, throughout the years I have maintained a small private
practice. I have worked with a wide variety of populations including: children,
adolescents, individuals, couples, families and groups. I have worked with
many diverse populations, in both the mental health and the substance-abuse
I am in a place in my career that I wish to give back and contribute my time,
energy, and talents to our organization. I deeply care about making sure that
we as LMFT's stand out in the marketplace and that both the public and the
legislators understand what we do and utilize our services. I want to help
obtain better reimbursement rates from insurance companies for our work, and
help achieve our longtime goal of being included in Medicare.
I have been part of the SaveCAMFT movement, and continue to hold fast to the
following values for CAMFT: transparency, inclusiveness, integrity, accountability,
and collaboration. In addition diversity is a strong value of mine.
I will bring years of clinical experience and wisdom, hope, laughter, dance/
movement, and passion to CAMFT. If elected, I will continue to support the
advancement of our profession. I will support the CAMFT goals of professionalism,
governance, advocacy, public outreach, membership, and volunteer leadership,
while maintaining ethical and legal standards for our profession.
Looking into the future, we will likely face some challenges in the years
ahead, with the political climate likely to change in big ways. I am up for
the challenge, helping our organization to serve all of our members and making
strides for LMFT’s. It will also be important to collaborate with other
organizations. In this regard, I also hold a membership in AAMFT, and believe
working together will strengthen our position as LMFT’s.
If elected as a Director at Large, one idea I have is to improve interaction
between the chapters, and perhaps have regional mini one day conferences within
each region with several chapters attending from the same geographic area.
If elected, I will bring passion, creativity, previous (non-CAMFT) board experiences,
good problem- solving and good communication skills to the CAMFT Board.
I would be honored to receive your vote for Director at Large, so please vote
Nanci Finley, LMFT for Director at Large. Thank-you very much.
