Candidate for Clinical Director
Steven Caraco, LMFT
I am honored and excited to be nominated to the CAMFT Board of Directors.
It is with 25 years of business experience, 20 years as a Licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist, and 20 years as a member of CAMFT that I hope to step
into the role of Clinical Director-At-Large and bring my knowledge and experience
to bear. I have held many corporate, nonprofit and volunteer board positions
including the San Fernando Valley chapter of CAMFT. I was proud and honored
to be a part of the SFV-CAMFT Chapter Board. We made improvements in the operations
and expansion of our chapter. This is the sort of difference I would like to
make on the state level as well.
I would like to help CAMFT support MFT’s by working to increase membership,
by advocating for our pre-licensed members, by expanding scholarship outreach,
by improving the communication about issues and the rationale for decisions
made by the Board, by initiating surveys and other convenient ways to increase
member involvement, and by improving the connection with individual chapters
through increased CAMFT leadership visits to the chapters.
Some of my goals for CAMFT are 1) to work toward every pre-licensed and LMFT
becoming an involved member of CAMFT, 2) to help the profession and its constituents,
us, by expanding our outreach efforts and visibility, 3) to have the benefits
of utilizing LMFT's be understood and welcomed in all institutions and broadly
accepted as a beneficial and essential part of everyone's life, and 4) build
our relationship and collaborative efforts with AAMFT.
My experience both as a psychotherapist and as an executive officer in corporate
America lends itself to furthering these goals and many of CAMFT’s action
items…blah, blah, blah. Want to know something really exciting? I just
went to the CAMFT website and saw my name as a Board candidate! This is exciting
to me because I believe I can make a difference to our profession and professional
organization in a way that will positively impact its members. And I love to
make a positive difference in the people and things I believe in!
