Submit a Proposal to the CAMFT Board

How to propose projects, activities, or suggestions to the CAMFT Board of Directors for their consideration and review:

Members may submit a formal proposal to the CAMFT Board of Directors or Educational Foundation Board for review at their quarterly meeting. Upon review, the Board will decide whether or not to pursue the issue raised in the proposal. Members will then be notified of the Board’s decision within two weeks after the Board meeting.

For Review at the Board meeting on December 1-2, 2018

  • Deadline to submit – Close of business, November 1, 2018
  • Send completed proposal and any attachments to board@camft.org

  • Members should use the Proposed Project or Activity form (link below) to suggest projects and activities for consideration by the Board.
  • When completing the proposal form, members should specify if they would like the form to be included in the public Board meeting materials or be included in the confidential Board meeting materials only.

Social Justice, Public Policy, or Clinical Issues

  • Members should use the Proposal Form Related to Social Justice, Public Policy, or Clinical Issues (link below) when asking the Board to take a position on one of these matters.
  • Proposals on Social Justice, Public Policy, or Clinical Issues must come from a CAMFT member in good standing, a CAMFT chapter, a CAMFT committee/task force, the CAMFT Board of Directors, or CAMFT staff.
  • Once an issue is presented to the Board, the Board will determine whether or not to send the matter to the Purview Committee for review and recommendation.
  • Purview Committee members are precluded from introducing issues to the Purview Committee.
  • When completing the proposal form, members should specify if they would like the form to be included in the public Board meeting materials or be included in the confidential Board meeting materials only.

Proposal Form for Proposed Activity Related to Social Justice/Public Policy/Clinical Issues

PRESENTING PROPOSALS
Members who have submitted a proposal for review by the Board can request, at the time of submission, that they be allowed to present their proposal to the Board with the following guidelines:

  • Members may present the proposal in person or via teleconference.
  • Members will be allotted 5 minutes for such a presentation. The President has discretion to grant additional time if warranted.
  • The presenter(s) will have the opportunity to answer questions from Board members after the 5-minute presentation and will have an opportunity for up to 2 minutes to provide comments after observing the Board discussion.
  • The Board President will determine if the proposal is to be discussed in closed session. Once in closed session, the Board can vote to move the item back into open session.
