In 1977, CAMFT formed the Educational Foundation as a separate, 501(c)(3) non-profit, charitable organization supported entirely by CAMFT member contributions. The mission of the Foundation is to provide education, research, and scholarships
to enhance the profession of marriage and family therapy. Over the past 34 years, the Foundation has distributed well over $127,000 in scholarships and grants.
Currently, the Educational Foundation issues the following awards:
- The Ronald D. Lunceford Scholarship—Recognizes a person from
an under-represented ethnic population for admission into an MA, MS, or PhD
program to qualify for licensure as a marriage and family therapist.
- The Clinton E. Phillips Scholarship—Recognizes a student
of marriage and family therapy who is completing an advanced degree.
- The CAMFT Educational Foundation Scholarship—Recognizes a
person who is pursuing an MFT license or who is pursuing research of importance
- The CAMFT Educational Foundation Grant—Recognizes a project
or program that helps further the MFT profession.
The Educational Foundation has invested in dozens of aspiring marriage and
family therapists over the years and the Foundation recently tracked down some
past award winners to learn “Where Are They Now?” The Foundation’s
investments have paid off as you will see when you read about the winners’ commitment to the profession and how the award helped
each on his/her journey.
The Foundation relies entirely upon CAMFT members for its support and we invite
you to make an investment in the Foundation and in the profession. The money
raised through the generosity of CAMFT members will allow the Foundation to
continue its legacy of awarding scholarships and grants for many years to come.
