CAMFT Policy

CAMFT Board Members at Chapter Events

Proposed: February 24, 2015
Accepted: March 13, 2015
Revised: June 6, 2015

The following guidelines delineate the duties and responsibilities associated with a Board member’s role, acting in the capacity of a CAMFT Ambassador, with chapter leaders and members at regional meetings and events:

  1. In an Ambassador capacity, a Board member may visit chapters for the purpose of generating feedback for CAMFT to better serve the chapters, and fostering stronger ties between members and the Association.
  2. In the course of a Board member’s attendance at a chapter meeting or event in the capacity of an Ambassador, CAMFT can provide a list of talking points on announcements to deliver at the request of the Board member. A Board member should not speak on behalf of the Association on any matters that are not in the best interests of CAMFT, should not speak against an action of the Board, nor lead any chapter audience member to reasonably believe that the Board member’s subjective beliefs or opinions are endorsed or held by the Association itself.
  3. The Board member may and should posit him or herself as a CAMFT liaison and Ambassador, and is encouraged to provide feedback to CAMFT Board and staff about member questions, concerns, and comments.
  4. Nothing in this policy prohibits a Board member from attending a chapter meeting or event in a non-Board member capacity.
