ICD-10 Coding Updates Effective October 1, 2016
As of October 1, 2016, new ICD-10 codes should be used for 14 mental health diagnoses, including commonly used codes such as Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Hoarding Disorder, Binge-Eating Disorder, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, and Gender Dysphoria in Adolescents and Adults. For a complete list of the changes, visit the American Psychiatric Association's homepage at http://psychiatryonline.org and click on the "Important DSM-5 Changes" link.
CAMFT is reaching out to the insurance plans who participate in the Department of Managed Health Care's Consumer Plan Provider Agency ("CPPA") Workgroup to find out whether there will be a grace period during which plans will continue to accept the old codes. In the meantime, providers may choose to resubmit claims that were incorrectly coded.
