By now you should have received the March/April edition of The Therapist. I’m excited to share with you the proposed revision of the CAMFT Code of Ethics is provided in the magazine.
The Ethics Committee has met 11 times since 2015 to work on revising the Ethics Code. I am thoroughly impressed with the amount of effort and thought that Ethics Committee members and CAMFT staff have put into this document. It’s not an exaggeration to say that thousands of hours have gone into this draft
for members to review.
A few of the suggested revisions in the Ethics Code include the following:
- Expanded standards on dual relationships,
- Expanded standards related to responsibility to the legal system, and
- New proposed standard on gifts (both receiving and giving).
You can find these changes and many more in The Therapist (starting on page 56), or on the website.
We welcome your input on the proposed revisions of the Ethics Code! Please send us your comments or questions to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 7, 2019, or mail to the CAMFT Office, Attn: Ethics Committee, 7901 Raytheon Road, San Diego, CA 92111.
