CAMFT’s Continuing Education Provider Approval (CEPA) Program promotes quality standards for continuing education providers. Several reviewers are needed to review applications for this program as part of the CEPA Committee. The committee is comprised of a diverse group of clinical members who serve two-year terms.
Committee members can earn up to six (6) Legal and Ethical continuing education credits for their work on the committee by learning CEPA guidelines and the criteria CE providers must meet, administering the CEPA’s program’s policies and procedures, satisfactorily evaluate and review a minimum of 12 applications and have served their full two-year term. Committee members must conduct a comprehensive study of CAMFT’s Ethical Codes, study the CEPA Program Manual and become familiar with current BBS regulations, the CEPA criteria, and view a 1-hour tutorial on the CEPA website. At the end of the two-year term, committee members complete an evaluation. Committee members may serve up to 4 consecutive terms.
Depending on the number of applications, each reviewer can expect to review between 15 and 30 applications each year. Reviewing an application involves reading submitted documentation and using a review guide to determine compliance with guidelines set forth by the Board of Behavioral Sciences. Each review usually takes about 30 minutes, depending on the number of suggestions made.
