CAMFT’s rich history started when five visionary therapists filed Articles of Incorporation with the California Secretary of State on February 26, 1964. CAMFT has since been served by 45 different Presidents and dozens of Board members and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to create a strong association for marriage and family therapists.

Beyond the dedication of the member volunteers, CAMFT has had the tremendously good fortune of committed and talented staff and counsel to execute and implement changes to the organization and profession. Richard Leslie and Mary Riemersma were key leaders and catalysts for CAMFT’s achievements. Richard and Mary advocated and led the legislative battles for MFTs and the advancement of the profession.
