I am excited to apply to represent pre-licensed members on CAMFT’s board. I begin this journey with particular interests in the BBS accepting the MFT national exam, in making sure that we utilize emerging technologies in a way that aids us as a profession without compromising our integrity, and in finding ways that pre-licensed members can, not just survive, but thrive, emotionally and financially, in our journeys through licensure and beyond. Mostly, though, I want to find out what you, CAMFT’s members, want, so that I can represent your interests. If elected, I will make myself extremely accessible so that you can relay your concerns to me quickly and easily. I am an AMFT in my second year of training at the Southern California Counseling Center, where I use strengths-based techniques and mindfulness therapies, through a social justice lens, to help empower individuals, couples, and families. I graduated from Antioch University in March of 2023 with an MA in Clinical Psychology, specializing in the treatment of Trauma. Before that, I created a large dog care business. I developed systems to care for 140 dogs a day, hired, trained and created a positive working atmosphere for over 35 personnel at a time, and catered to clients from all walks of life. Prior to starting that business I was an attorney, clerking for an appellate judge, and later litigating on behalf of survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Both business and law helped me to hone skills that I believe will be extremely helpful on CAMFT’s board. I understand the importance of being open to many different perspectives, as well as how to work with groups to find commonality and compromises that satisfy all of those involved. I am practiced in being persuasive, and believe that I will be able to communicate CAMFT’s wishes to others, such as the BBS, effectively. I can carefully review legislation and legal documents that affect MFTs, and interact seamlessly with our legal team. I can also evaluate financial documents, business plans, and business methods. I understand the importance of professionalism in all situations, and I can meet tight deadlines while acting ethically, pursuant to a strong fiduciary duty. One of the things I loved about creating and running a business was coming up with innovative solutions to solve problems, and I think that my drive to solve problems in new ways will help me to work with all of you to better the lives of CAMFT members and the clients we serve. Once I set a goal, I see it through, and I am determined to help CAMFT in its mission to advocate for its members. We are all part of CAMFT because we want to be part of a profession that is constantly getting better, and doing better. I believe that my wide variety of professional experiences, as well as my curiosity and joy in learning new things and helping others, will help me to represent you. Thank you so much for your time.
