I am Robin Sandoval, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Throughout my career, I have gained diverse experience working in free therapy service settings, non-profit organizations, and intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment programs where I facilitated groups and provided individual care, group practices, and now private practice. This range of experiences has given me unique opportunities to understand the needs and desires of fellow MFTs in their professional roles.
Since beginning my journey as a therapist in 2020, I quickly recognized the need for greater support for therapists, starting from their time in school through licensure and beyond. This realization led me to get involved with CAMFT, serving on committees such as the Pre-Licensed Committee and the Annual Planning Conference Committee. Additionally, since 2022, I have been a member of the Board of Directors for Orange County-CAMFT, holding the positions of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Director, and Pre-Licensed Director.
These roles have given me valuable insight into the inner workings of CAMFT, along with the motivation to help guide the organization toward growth and meaningful impact. My extensive experience with CAMFT committees and the OC-CAMFT Board of Directors has deepened my appreciation for the organization and its vital role in supporting MFTs. CAMFT’s mission to advance the MFT profession while enhancing its recognition and utilization aligns closely with my own passions and vision. I am committed to advocating for the support and recognition that MFTs need to thrive, which has fueled my active involvement from the start of my career.
Now, I am eager to expand my contributions to the state level, where I can help drive greater impact and meaningful action. My priorities for the profession include increased support for MFTs, continued access to high-quality training, improved compensation, and broader recognition of the critical work we do with diverse populations. If elected to CAMFT’s Board of Directors, I plan to advocate for these issues to ensure that the MFT field continues to grow and evolve in a way that benefits practitioners and the communities we serve.
I believe that serving on the Board of Directors is a privilege and responsibility—to be the voice for MFTs and the populations we serve. This position offers the opportunity to champion initiatives and advocacy efforts that drive our field and organization toward meaningful, inclusive growth. I am excited to contribute to this mission and help CAMFT reflect the diversity and strength of its members.
