The following notes highlight discussion and action from the March 5-6, 2022 CAMFT Board of Directors meeting, held in San Diego, California.
Board and Staff Partnership Workshop
The CAMFT Board and staff participated in a partnership workshop to get to know each other and to work on transitioning to the new Executive Director Joy Alafia.
Board to Board Reception
The CAMFT Board invited Board members of the San Diego and San Diego North County Chapters to an informal reception. Local CAMFT members were also invited to the reception for a meet and greet and to learn about volunteer leadership opportunities. (These “Board-to-Board” gatherings are intended to allow for interaction between state and local leaders when the CAMFT Board is meeting in a chapter’s area.)
Department Updates
The Board received updates from all departments. Deputy Executive Director Cathy Atkins presented information on the need to discuss and reassess how the Annual Conference and other in-person learning opportunities will occur in a post-COVID world. The 2022 CAMFT Fall Symposium was also discussed.
Additionally, advocacy and the impact of telehealth and interstate issues were discussed.
Financial Report
The Board reviewed the 2022 financials through April 2022. They were provided information on the financials and fund balances for CAMFT, the Educational Foundation and PAC.
Strategic Priorities Update
The Board received an update from Atkins on CAMFT’s three priorities of chapters, social policy, and marketing and branding. The Board discussed the importance of Joy Alafia to assess these three strategic priorities.
The next Board meeting will be held September 10-11, 2022, in Rohnert Park, CA.
