The Alzheimer's Association recently reported that every 69 seconds one person develops Alzheimer's disease, leaving more than 4.9 million family members and friends to provide care for their loved one. In recognition of National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists encourages all caregivers to practice self-care as they tend to a family member's Alzheimer's diagnosis.
The "Mental Health Mobile" is hitting the road to spread the word about the need for mental wellness and provide an opportunity for people across the state to learn more about how therapy can help. The statewide tour organized by CounselingCalifornia.com and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) coincides with Mental Health Awareness Month.
The California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) named Jill Epstein, J.D. as executive director, effective May 2, 2011. Epstein has a rich portfolio of experience in the not-for-profit arena, including management posts in the health care, elder care, professional standards and certification, and finance industries.
While most parents think of back-to-school as an exciting time marked by new backpacks, school supplies and outfits, it can also mean stress and anxiety for many children. As families get ready for the first day of a new school year, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) reminds parents that back-to-school can be difficult for many children, especially if they are going to school for the first time or changing schools.
