Untangling the Errors of Others

Have you ever lost sleep wondering whether something in your practice would land you in hot water with BBS? In this three-hour law and ethics workshop, CAMFT Staff Attorney Kristin Roscoe will discuss ways therapists might find themselves traveling down a road leading to a BBS complaint. While we cannot guarantee a good night's sleep afterward, attendees will learn from the mistakes of others to identify what constitutes unprofessional conduct and become better informed about the BBS disciplinary process.

Learning Objectives

After the presentation, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish between an administrative citation and an enforcement action.
  • Identify at least 3 categories of unprofessional conduct that could result in BBS taking disciplinary action against a therapist.
  • Recognize how violating legal or CAMFT ethical obligations may result in BBS disciplinary action.

  ON-DEMAND WORKSHOPS

In addition to the in-person workshops, you will receive access to audio recordings of three of our most popular Annual Conference workshops! That's an additional 6 CE hours that you can accrue at your convenience AND in the comfort in your own home/office.

Access to the On-Demand presentations will be from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025. Workshops cannot be substituted.

Parts Work for Complex Trauma
(Audio Recording - 2 CE hrs)

Workshop Description:

Clients with histories of complex, relational, and attachment trauma often present with fiercely protective systems, making it difficult to proceed with depth therapy or enact behavioral change. Using theory and interventions from Internal Family Systems, the Model of Structural Dissociation, and the Comprehensive Resource Model, this workshop will enable you to better understand your clients with trauma histories and work with them in a neurobiologically-informed, safe, and attuned manner. Join this workshop to learn specific interventions for resourcing and working with parts you can use to bring healing to the clients who struggle the most.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Name the three types of protector parts, according to Internal Family Systems.
  • Name the two types of parts, according to the Model of Structural Dissociation.
  • State three benefits of resourcing in clients with complex trauma.
  • Explain three resourcing interventions for use of clients with complex trauma.

Identifying and Treating Imposter Syndrome
(Audio Recording - 2 CE hrs)

Workshop Description:
This presentation will focus on helping clinicians identify Impostor Syndrome and effective ways to address the rigidly held beliefs sufferers hold about themselves that prevent them from connecting to the parts of themselves responsible for their success.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify Impostor Syndrome from other similar diagnoses.
  • Describe commonalities that are often present in the histories of individuals that struggle with Impostor Syndrome.
  • Identify 2 tools to assist with a reduction in Impostorism.

Working with High Conflict Couples
(Audio Recording - 2 CE hrs)

Workshop Description:
Working with couples can be daunting and frightening. It can also be rewarding -- even fun -- when you have the right skills and composure. Learn step-by-step methods for increasing competence to become a true healer and guide, not just a referee to your couples. You will learn: what to do in the first phone call, the first session, the first fight, and at the start of each session. We will also cover curve balls: trauma, addictions, raging, affairs, co-parenting, sexual incompatibility, secrets, and ambivalence. This workshop is presented by a Certified Relational Life Therapist specializing in couples.

Learning Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify your conflict style and those of your couples.
  • List at least two techniques on how to manage your own bodily reactions and be able to teach the skill to your clients.
  • Name three ways to counteract conflict with positive interactions.
