The CDMHC is on a mission to increase the number of mental health professionals licensed in the state of California who are registered on the Disaster Health Volunteer website.

Following a major disaster in the state, mental health professionals who have signed up with the Disaster Health Website can be called to assist in follow up care. The Red Cross Disaster Mental Health staff that assist in shelters and on scene do not provide mental health treatment follow up.  Mental health professionals, including MFTs, who are registered on the volunteer website can be called to provide a set number of pro bono sessions virtually. Because anyone licensed in California may provide services to anyone anywhere in California, those areas with a high number of mental health professionals, such as major metropolitan, areas, can provide services to areas where there are few mental health professionals, such as the more rural areas and the very far northern California counties.
