Hello Colleagues
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve as Clinical Board Member-At-Large for CAMFT since June 2020. The reason I am on the board is to serve you; the CAMFT membership. My time on the CAMFT Board of Directors has been positive, exciting, and full of growth. This experience has only deepened my resolve to support and invest my personal and professional time in growing CAMFT in any way I can. So now another opportunity to serve you has presented itself, the position of Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The Chief Financial Officer position is a great next step for me. Every decision I have made about becoming involved in CAMFT has been to push me out of my comfort zone, to stretch, to grow, to evolve. This decision is no different. I will bring a unique perspective to the CFO position as someone who will ask the painfully obvious questions. My job is to stand for the CAMFT member who does not have the opportunity to sit at the table and ask those questions or express their opinions; to have a voice. And please know I want to hear and to the best of my ability, express your voice.
I have a keen understanding of where CAMFT has been and where we’re headed. I have been a member of CAMFT for over 20 years. I was a member of the inaugural grassroots team who went to Sacramento to lobby for AB191. I joined the CEPA committee in 2017 and served until I had to resign in 2020, to accept the position of Clinical Board Member-At-Large of the current CAMFT Board of Directors. I am currently on the Finance committee and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee creation team for the CAMFT Board of Directors. I served on the Board of Directors for the Inland Empire chapter of CAMFT, for over 4 years, where I was on the CEU committee.
I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I was the corporate secretary for our family business for over 35 years where I performed all of the accounting and bookeeping activities. I currently run my own private practice. I also currently sit on the finanacial committee for a community medical center board of directors where I serve as Executive Secretary. Lastly, I will bring to the position laughter, maturity and an understanding that synergy and collaboration get the job done. I am present, transperent and have the gift of putting people at ease. I strive to be fair and do things decent and in order.
Again, I appreciate you taking the time to read my thoughts to you.
Respectfully,
Ava D. Phillips, LMFT
