Dear Members,

As we welcome the arrival of March, we embrace the promise of spring—a season synonymous with transformation and renewal. As such, I am delighted to share with you a few exciting updates and events within the CAMFT community. 

Earlier this week, it was an honor to stand alongside our esteemed Board of Directors and fellow members as we presented Senator Caroline Menjivar with the prestigious State Legislator of the Year award. Senator Menjivar has been a steadfast advocate for mental health rights, authoring SB 372 (Deadnaming), which was proudly co-sponsored by CAMFT. This important bill introduces crucial protections for transgender and non-binary healthcare professionals. Congratulations, Senator Menjivar!

We’re in the middle of the election for several open Board Positions, and I hope you plan to vote if you have not done so already. This year, we’ll be welcoming one new President-Elect, one Chief Financial Officer, and three Director-at-Large positions. Don’t forget, voting will close on March 14. Please take the time to read each of the candidate statements so you can vote with confidence.

I am also excited to share about this year’s Annual Conference—just two months away! I look forward to meeting many of you from across the state as we convene in Los Angeles on May 3-4. You’ll find lots of great sessions that will inspire and motivate you, while earning lots of CE credits while you’re at it! Our opening keynote speaker this year is Elizabeth Smart, who will impart lessons of healing and hope in her workshop “My Healing Journey.” We’ll also have a plethora of workshops from over 20 other inspiring speakers. There’s something for everyone, so be sure to register now to secure your spot!
